Alicia Into The Light

Having contributed as one half of The Olatuja Project to The Promise album back in 2011 and also sung for the Obamas at a recent inauguration concert, Alicia Olatuja is set to release her debut solo album this summer.

Already you’ll find a single on iTunes, entitled In The Dark, a lovely, soulful ballad with subtle jazz overtones. The album, we can exclusively reveal, contains a killer cover of Chaka Khan’s Love Me Still.

Alicia, who is, of course, married to ace jazzman Michael Olatuja, has sung with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir since 2007, often performs as a soloist with the Juilliard Jazz ensemble, and has sung with various recording artists such as Christian McBride, Chaka Khan and Bebe Winans.

On the album she will be joined by such acclaimed performers as three-time Grammy winner McBride and husband Michael [both on bass], Jon Cowherd and two-time Grammy nominee Christian Sands [both on piano], Grégoire Maret on harmonica, Ulysses Owens, Jr., on drums and David Rosenthal on guitar. The CD, titled Timeless, is slated for release in June.
