Cult percussionist, vocalist, Prince band mainstay and member of an extraordinary musical dynasty, Sheila E is back – with a brand new album, Icon.
The set is her first full album release since 2001’s Heaven and features the track Leader Of The Band, which has guest appearances by her father Pete and brothers Juan and Peter Michael Escovedo – and also by Prince, with whom she wrote the song.
It’s the latest evidence of her long-standing relationship with the enigmatic superstar: Sheila E not only performed on numerous Prince albums including the celebrated Sign O’ The Times, but was his percussionist and musical director on the Lovesexy tour.
Out at the end of November, the CD will coincide with a live show by Sheila at London’s Under The Bridge club [at Chelsea FC] on November 23.
