Tru Thoughts’ latest signing is the intriguing young British soul singer Harleighblu, who makes her debut on July 29 with the single Play Me. An album, Forget Me Not, will follow on September 23.

What’s more, she’ll play her London debut live show at The Queen Of Hoxton on October 17.

You might have heard her other available track Enough Now, which was made available on a vinyl only EP back in April for Record Store Day. The likes of BBC 1Xtra and Craig Charles picked up on that one. Now everyone from Shy FX and Eats Everything to 16bit wants to collaborate with her.

In the past the Nottingham lass sang background for the reformed Musical Youth, having met Dennis Seaton thereof. More recently she’s been working with hip-hop producer guy Joe Buhdha.

Robert Luis, A&R at Tru Thoughts, apparently liked her Jill Scott and Badu influences, although we think she sounds closer to Winehouse than that on Play Me. More soon.
