Released on October 7, 2013, Beautiful Song is the new single from the legendary PP Arnold, and the first song to be released from Band Of Sisters, a group of solo artists of all ages and achievements in the business. An album, Issues, will follow on November 4 and contains 16 new songs by women, about women, for women.
PP Arnold is, of course, a legend. Arriving in England as an Ikette with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, PP was spotted by Mick Jagger who immediately convinced Andrew Loog-Oldham to sign her to his Immediate label. Several huge hits followed, the best-known being ‘The First Cut Is The Deepest’, ‘Angel Of The Morning’ and ‘(If You Think You’re) Groovy’. PP was one of the iconic faces of London’s Swinging ‘60s.
PP has collaborated, recorded, worked and toured alongside the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Small Faces, Jimi Hendrix, Rod Stewart, Barry Gibb, Eric Clapton, Humble Pie, Nick Drake, Roger Waters, Ocean Colour Scene, Primal Scream and, of course, with her own band, The Nice, led by Keith Emerson. Her session credits read like a ‘Who’s Who’ list that stretches across the last four decades of Rock & Roll and Pop music.
West End credits include Catch My Soul / Rock Othello, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express, as well as the Olivier Award-Winning Once On This Island, while her TV credits include, Ready Steady Go, Top Of The Pops, Pop Quiz, Rock Family Trees, Absolutely Fabulous, Later… with Jools Holland, T.F.I. Friday and many others in England and across Europe.
PP and The Band of Sisters will play two dates at The Pheasantry, Kings Road, London, on Friday, 11th October & Saturday, 12th October.
