Top 10 R&B, Top 40 Pop and international award-winning songwriter, producer, and recording artist James Day has just announced the forthcoming release of Seasons & Reasons, his album for the 2013 holiday season, featuring ace vocalists Audrey Wheeler, Gavin Christopher, Donnie Johnson and more. It’s available from Soul Brother Records in London from early November and elsewhere [and on CD] from December 3.
Also including the Top 5 UK soul hit Considered Delivered, and SiriusXM Heart & Soul Radio’s Top 40 hit Rewind, the album is a mixture of straight soul pieces and seasonal tunes.
Day’s story is an intriguing one. He grew up in the small Finnish fishing town of Rockport, Massachusetts while his music life began upon moving to NYC in the early ‘80s. James found himself a dancer on the syndicated music TV shows This Week’s Music with a young Courtney Cox and in videos for Carly Simon and Chaka Khan. He also began writing, partnering with then-mega producer Maurice Starr on a cut for platinum artist, Tiffany. Unfortunately he was suddenly struck with Ménière’s disease, destroying his hearing in one ear, leaving him with constant tinnitus and episodic vertigo. However, Day turned to the life of a songwriting producer, and in 2007 dropped the Expansion release Better Days, featuring Audrey Wheeler, Catherine Russell and Phil Perry saxophonist Joe Cunningham. His sophomore release was Natural Things – featuring Gavin Christopher, saxman Walter Beasley, former Atlantic recording artist Tim Owens, and Karen Bernod.
On the new album Day partners with Donnie, Trina Broussard, U-NAM, Noah Lifschey, Cool Million and newcomer phenomenon, Cleveland P. Jones among others.
