The phenomenon that is Snarky Puppy is heading this way for a series of live shows.
Next month’s two London Scala dates sold out with weeks to spare and already their regional dates are going that way too.
The schedule is:
Glasgow, O2 ABC [May 1]; Leeds, The Wardrobe [2]; Cheltenham Jazz Festival [3]; Birmingham, Glee Club [4]; Brighton, Coalition [5]; London, Scala [6/7]; Norwich, Norfolk & Norwich Festival [9]; Minehead, Southport Weekender [10]; Gateshead, The Sage [11]; Liverpool, Kazimier [12]; Manchester, Band On The Wall [13/14]; Glynde, Love Supreme Festival [July 4]; and London, Roundhouse [Nov 18].
Without major label backing, the Dallas/New York collective has gone from being an underground secret to become one of the biggest bands on the international scene. Their blend of funk, jazz, gospel, rock and R&B has proved popular with fans of all genres, while their last five albums (from a total of eight) are presented as live CD/DVD packages – recorded and filmed live in a studio setting in front of a small audience of fans, thus capturing the rawness and spontaneity of the Snarky live experience.
Their latest release We Like it Here was recorded and filmed live over four nights in the Netherlands in 2013. The film also contains over an hour of interviews, behind the scenes footage and alternate solo takes from the recording sessions.
Snarky will return to the UK in November to perform at London’s roundhouse. For this date, they will be showcasing more new material taken from their upcoming album of specially commissioned music recorded in the Netherlands with the Metropole Orchestra – of course, recorded and filmed live in front of a small studio audience!
