Hip-hop soul queen Mary J Blige has come to London to write and record her next album.
The London Sessions, released on November 24, features collaborations with some of the cream of the UK Music scene – Sam Smith, Disclosure, Emeli Sande, Naughty Boy, Sam Romans and Jimmy Napes. The result is a very different piece of work for Ms B.
Lead single, Right Now, was produced by Disclosure and impacts on October 27. Mary will also be debuting some of the songs from the new album when she performs at the iTunes festival at London’s Roundhouse on September 25.
“It’s all about the London Music scene and I’m so excited to have been part of it, to record my album,” says Blige. “The songs are fun, therapeutic and soulful. This is a beautiful change for me and I’m proud of what we have done here.”
Additionally, a trailer containing an intimate glimpse into the making of this album has exclusively launched on Pitchfork on Sept 9.
The London Sessions will be available to pre-order on September 23.
