Imagenes, one of the UK’s leading purveyors of contemporary Latin-tinged dance music, has just dropped a new jazzed-up bomb in the shape of Give Me Night. Label heads Jorge Montiel and Juan Laya are on production duty while Xantone Blacq and Heidi Vogel provide guest vocals on a soaring cover of George Benson’s ‘80s pop-fusion anthem.
The track, which has already been championed by broadcasters such as Jazz FM’s Jeff Young, BBC6 Music’s Paul Miller and Gilles Peterson, marks a change of direction for London-based Venezuelans Montiel and Loya, who have enjoyed considerable success with their crowd pleasing disco-oriented band Los Charlys Orchestra.
The Give Me The Night EP is out now as a download and a set of remixes, available digitally and on limited 7” vinyl, will follow next month.
