Colston Hall Goes Online

Bristol’s famous Colston Hall venue is responding to the current lockdown with Colston Hall Presents Bristol Takeover Online, a free, live-streamed festival celebrating [in particular] Bristol’s music artists and venues, in partnership with Music Venue Trust’s Save Our Venues campaign.
Save Our Venues is a new national campaign to save hundreds of grassroots music venues at imminent risk of being closed down – permanently – so it’s doing vital work for music lovers. Without the independent venues, the live music scene in the UK will die.

So, on Saturday, May 23, from 3pm-12am, Colston Hall will launch their online takeover, hosted by BBC Introducing in the West presenters Richard Pitt and Sam Bonham. It will feature the likes of Adrian Utley of Portishead, The Allergies, Ishmael Ensemble, Melt Yourself Down, No Go Stop, Pictish Trail, Rachael Dadd, Run Logan Run, Three Cane Whale, plus artists on the Saffron Records roster and many more.

The festival will be live streamed for free via YouTube – although organisers are asking that viewers donate what they would normally spend on a gig ticket via the event’s CrowdFunder page. All donations will be split 50/50 to support participating artists and music venues in collaboration with Music Venue Trust.
A full line-up and running times for the festival will be announced in the lead-up to the event. The broadcast will be available to view on-demand for one week after the event.
